Question by jade: Questions for dog trainers and savvy owners? please help?
I got a puppy. Aprox. 8 weeks old. I’ve had her for a week. I adopted her after finding her on the street.
I really want to train her to go potty outside, sit, stay, be quiet, and for her to stay in her ‘pet-taxi’ at night and when i can’t be with her. When i first got her she would pee on the news paper only, there were few accidents. But yesterday, she peed on the floor right besides the paper. I’ve been praising her everytime she goes outside. But I’m not sure if I should just ignore the peeing inside… or should i act disappointed? I don’t want her to think it’s ok to ‘go’ inside.
I’ve read some articles on the internet on the subject, but it’s not clear to me what they mean when they say to not let her get away with things. I don’t know if she might be training me and i haven’t even noticed! will someone please explain how i should go about with the training? what should i try to teach her first? or various things at the same time?

If she went right next to the paper, it could be possible that she just missed on accident. I wouldn’t reprimand her for it if that is the case.

You could carry them in a pouch but just be careful because their bones are much more delicate than with the other animals you mentioned but as long as you’re careful they should be fine. Yes, you can show them, as with most small mammals there are various shows in which you can exhibit but for some of them you may need to have proof that the hamster is purebred. There are many fairs that you can show at though that you just exhibit them as a pocketpet, along with guinea pigs and other small animals.

Question by abbyful: flying with dog in-cabin, any recommended carriers?
I’m planning on taking a trip next month and would like to take my dog with me. So I’m looking for a quality carrier.

I haven’t booked my flight yet, but will most likely be flying Delta. I contacted the airline, they said that the carrier size limit is 12x12x18.

I have a PetFlys carrier that is 12x9x19, so it’s 1 inch away from fitting their size limit. Can anyone that has flown a pet before tell me if they are really strict on the size? Do they measure the carrier, or just eye-ball it?

Since I’m unsure about the PetFlys carrier being accepted, I’m looking for a carrier that *will* fit thier standards. Has anyone used either the Sherpa-Delta ( http://www.sherpapet.com/products/detail.php?proddetail_name=Delta%20Bag&proddetail_post=Y ) or SturdiBag ( http://www.sturdiproducts.com/4111/xcart/home.php?cat=1 ) carriers? I can’t find many reviews about the SturdiBag. The Sherpa-Delta has mixed reviews, people either love it or hate it.

I’m open to other brand suggestions as well.
