Question by AJ: Anyone travel American airlines, in cabin, with a 13 lb pet. What carrier did you use to fit under the seat?

Best answer:

Answer by patience
13lb sounds a bit too big for in-cabin! If somehow AA allows it , the best pet carrier would be a soft-sided pet carrier. Don’t ever buy even the smallest hard-sided carrier, 99% of them just won’t fit under the seat. Go to AA website and check the dimensions for in-cabin pet carrier.

If you are going to carry your pet on a journey, be it a cat or a dog or any other animal you have to make sure that the pet carrier is safe for the animal and meets the airline rules and regulations as well. When you choose a pet carrier you must do adequate research to buy a unit which meets the standards of several airline companies that you are most likely to use for your travel. Different airlines have different regulations. All this information can readily be found by visiting the respective websites.

Proper size and the proper use of space within this size is crucial for the animal to be safe and for a pet carrier to approved by any good airline. This will ensure that your pet is comfortable and does not develop any complications during the flight.

Some airlines allow pet carriers to be taken in as a checked-in item. This is ideal for the pet owner and the pet as most pet lovers like to stay with their travel companions during the journey. These pet carriers which can be checked-in along with the passenger are typically made of light materials and are small in size ideal for dogs and cats.

Make sure the pet carrier you choose will easily slide under the seat right in front of you. Besides the size another factor for choosing a good pet carrier is the material, style and look. Keep in mind that the material used must also be approved by the airline.

Question by Aeisha: For people who has traveled on Delta airlines (or other) with their pet. Do they measure the dog carrier?
Do they measure their dog carrier to make sure it’s the right dimension or do they just glance at it. ( I have a Sherpa American Kennel Club Pet Carrier and it’s 1inch over in length so i’m worried) Also do they weigh the bag? If so how much should the bag weigh.
Also Will they sit there and see if my dog can stand up and turn around

With the weight im asking if it weighs over a certain number will they charge more

Answer by di
The crate has to be big enough for the dog to have at least 2 inches of head room and the dog must be able to fully stand up. You will pay for the size of the crate. Contact your airline for weight and cost.
