My Tabby cat is scared of the pet carrier he goes inside lies down it and even has a nap but when I close the door and take him to the car he panics he goes crazy and bites the cage door to be let out.

Is there anything I can do to get him to relax?

Hmm- You might try a tranquilizer, preferably one from the vet.

Our cats start crying when we close them in the pet carriers too. But they don’t try biting the door.

Good luck!

Should I Invest in this pet carrier?

Question by : Should I Invest in this pet carrier?
I recently found this cute pet carrier online …I was thinking of using it for taking my cat to the vet and possibly a 10 hour air plane when I move to Europe in abour 5 years. What do you guys think?

OHHHH that is a very nice one. But you’d better check on the plane going to Europe. If you are flying there permanently you will not be able to take your cat in cabin with you (only can do that in the USA and Canada). The pet would need a hard sided standard airline carrier to be riding in cargo.

But for the USA flights, that’s also a great price.

Added: – just to clarify for those below – the carrier pictured is ONLY to be used in cabin under the seat in front of you. Not in your lap or in the cargo section under the plane. If the cat flys under the plane in cargo, it will need a sturdy hard sided carrier.

Has anyone ever taken a pet on an airplane?

Question by The Mrs.: Has anyone ever taken a pet on an airplane?
I have a 4lbs dog. I have called one airline carrier and they said she has to go in the cargo area. I know I have seen people on hair planes with pets in pet carriers in the cabin. My dog would not do well in the cargo area shes would be terrified.

- Is the cargo area pressurized?
- Do you know of a carrier that will allow a small dog in the cabin?
- Is it Safe for her to be in the cargo area? Will they make sure her cage does not bounce around while in flight?

-Kris… you can take your dog on to an airplane. Just not through certain carriers. I already bought my tickets with Frontier and that particular carrier does not allow pets on a plane, they do not have to be guide dogs. just FYI

\yes, it’s safe in the cargo area.
The box will be tied down, and the hold is heated if animals are travelling.
You can ask your vet for a sedative if you think she’ll get stressed.

Q&A: dog problems…?

Question by adam d: dog problems…?
My dog is getting older….a 13 year old Shih Tzu.

She’s never been like this until this past year…but she’s goes absolutely crazy whenever we leave. She pants and tears up the house, and when we get home and let her out…she drinks an entire bowl of water!

I’m worried about her. When we leave her in her pet taxi she goes crazy in there too. There is absolutely nothing that fixes this problem. Any suggestions?

Answer by Yep
Ask your vet for an herb that can calm the dog…my parents use it for their poodle and it helps when they are gone for more than 5 hours…
